France – the country of the Eiffel Tower and excellent cuisine. France is a European country located in the western part of the continent, it also has overseas territories, including Martinique, Guadeloupe and French Guiana. France is a republic, its capital city is Paris. The country is inhabited by over 66 million people. France is famous for its famous monuments, beautiful landscapes and excellent cuisine.

The capital of France - Paris: the city of love and beautiful monuments

Without a doubt, the greatest tourist attraction of France is its capital – Paris, located on the Seine. It is a destination for many trips, both for romantic trips for two, as well as family or organized trips. The symbol and at the same time the greatest tourist attraction of the city is the Eiffel Tower, located on the Field of Mars, 324 meters high, with three observation decks. The tower is made of iron, built in 1889 to commemorate the French Revolution. Another symbol of the city is Notre Dame Cathedral – a five-aisle church built for almost 180 years. We associate the cathedral with Victor Hugo’s novel about the mysterious “Hunchback of Notre Dame” and with the film and animated production of the same title. In the western part of the Champs Elysees there is another symbol of the city, the Arc de Triomphe.

This beautiful monument is a thank you to those who fought bravely for France during both the Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars. The most famous French museum is the Louvre in Paris. Currently, there are about 35,000 unique works of art, including the statue of Nike of Samothrace, the Sphinx, fragments of the Parthenon, Diana of Versailles, and of course the Mosa Lisa, the museum’s most famous painting. In Paris, it is worth seeing many more attractive tourist places, including the Avenue des Champs Elysees, Alexander III Bridge and the Place de la Concorde. The Paris catacombs are also an attraction. Paris is also a city of fashion, important shows and the workplace of many world-famous designers.

Cities worth visiting in France

France is a country of beautiful cities and landscapes. Paris is, of course, a real gem of this country, but apart from it, there are also many other, no less interesting cities and places. It is definitely worth visiting Lyon, a city in the central-eastern part of France. There are many historic churches and interesting museums there. In addition, tourist attractions are certainly the neoclassical opera house, the town hall, monuments from the Art Nouveau period and the ruins of buildings from the times of ancient Rome, including aqueducts, thermal baths and the remains of the theater. It is in Lyon that the country’s largest zoo and botanical garden is located.

Another interesting city in France is Marseille. It is located on the Mediterranean Sea, on the Cote d’Azur. There are many tourist attractions, including the historic cathedral of La Major from the 12th century and newer from the 19th century, the Church of Saint Victor, the castle, Notre Dame basilica, the 17th century town hall, Saint John’s fort and interesting museums. The city is also known for its Marseillaise, the country’s anthem, which is associated with Marseille.
Nice is the fifth largest city in France. It is a beautiful town, also located on the Cote d’Azur, inhabited by about a million people. There are ruins of buildings from ancient Rome, including a thermal bath or an amphitheater, as well as historic churches, a senate palace, the ruins of a Romanesque cathedral and a castle.

An interesting city is also located in the south of France, Toulouse. There is a pilgrimage church, a historic cathedral and a basilica, a hospital chapel, a historic monastery and a capitol.

Nantes, the port on the Loire, is also a beautiful city. Its most important monument is the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul. It is built in the Gothic style, although its furnishings are largely Renaissance. There is also the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany, the Church of the Holy Cross, the Gothic chapter house and historic houses from the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries.

Another interesting city in France is Strasbourg, associated with the European Union. And rightly so, because it is in Strasbourg that the building of the European Parliament is located. In addition, there are many other monuments in Strasbourg, including the Cathedral of Our Lady, Kleber Square, historic palaces and opera houses from the 19th century, the Palace of Justice, the Church of St. Magdalena and historic covered bridges.
